Jeep Tomahawk, coming soon: we tell you more!

Jeep Tomahawk, coming soon

What is the Jeep Tomahawk? Is it a supercharged version of an existing model? Is it a brand new Jeep SUV?

Information about it is quite limited at the moment and is more like speculation than anything else; but the Carbuzz website has published a few very interesting details on what the Tomahawk name could stand for, which was registered at the US patent office by Stellantis.

Longue Pointe Chrysler in Montreal, your Jeep dealership close to Saint-Leonard and Montreal North, tells you more!

A rival for the powerful Cadillac Escalade-V?

The Tomahawk name has already been used in the past and was always linked to very performant models.  This said, we can speculate about the fact that Stellantis wants to bring forth a contender to the powerful and luxurious Cadillac Escalade-V who, with its 6.2 L V8 engine with 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft. maximum torque is -to date- the most powerful full-size SUV on the market.

If that is truly the case, then we can imagine a Tomahawk version for the already impressive Grand Wagoneer, which would leave the luxurious General Motors model far behind.

Yet one question remains: will this be a fuel engine?  After all, Stellantis is extremely focused on bringing forth an electric version to all of its models … Which means this is not very likely.  So, perhaps a plug-in hybrid engine or even a 100% electric powertrain?

Grand Wagoneer or an all-new SUV?

But if Stellantis truly has the Escalade-V in its line of sight, we can expect a seriously outstanding rival, whether it is the Grand Wagoneer or a brand new extremely high-end SUV that would be called the Jeep Tomahawk.

More speculation

Jeep Grand Cherokee side

The Jeep Tomahawk could, according to Carbuzz, be a super powerful version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee that stopped offering this type of version since the departure of the late Trackhawk with 707 horsepower.  We can also imagine that the Tomahawk name could be assigned to the higher-end models across the Jeep range in general.

And Dodge?

Some rumours say that the Tomahawk name will be found on a Dodge like, for example, on a Challenger Tomahawk or any other muscle car.  Moreover, from August 15th to the 17th, the manufacturer will be revealing, as a world premiere, 3 performance vehicles; one to represent the present, another as a bridge and the 3rd representing the future:

  • August 15th: a version of the current performance cars (the Hellcat engines going out with a bang?);
  • August 16th: a bridge model, which could very well be -according to the very first plug-in hybrid model offered by the brand, the Dodge Hornet SUV;
  • August 17th: the big reveal of a new performance concept vehicle (electric?)

If the name Tomahawk isn't used for any of these 3 models, then it could very well mean that it is most likely to be reserved for a future Jeep that will be made available for sale over the next few years.

One thing is for sure: rumours are running wild about the Jeep Tomahawk -or at least the Tomahawk name- and we will be closely monitoring the situation as well as all press releases brought forth by Jeep Canada on the subject.
